The Package

In the end we had resigned ourselves to the fact that no package would be arriving. It had been sucked into a vortex somewhere between Colorado and Wicklow. Or it had been incinerated by heartless customs officers.

My swap partner had received her package and was disappointed that mine had not arrived. We had been so in sync with the whole process, even posting our packages on the same day, unbeknownst to each other.

There was nothing for it, but to begin again... or ... maybe just...

...wait for another couple of days...

For, lo and behold... on a dark, rainy evening, when I had been soaked to the bone on my walk home from the bus stop and I was tired and cranky and in need of some cheer...  there was the package! Having casually arrived with the postman who offered no explanation for its tardiness, there it was, fully intact and just waiting to be explored.

All wrapped up in a map with a heart marking the spot from whence it came <3

A bundle of little bundles. Treasure upon treasure spilled out of the gorgeous drawstring bag that will be perfect for on-the go crafting...
... little notebooks, marked with an 'S', with feather bookmarks...
a beeswax candle, seated in a found telephone pole insulator part...
Seeds to plant - to create a mini Colorado in my garden - and beautiful words to read...

Something for each of my senses. Sage, ready to burn. It's sweet, earthy smell permeating the entire parcel.
Colorado quarters and a dollar coin...
Home-made elderberry cordial with vodka...mmmmm and mmmmMusic too. Amazing music that has filled my weekend and my heart.
All these things. And so much more. I am overwhelmed by the generosity and the creativity and the thoughtfulness and the tastes and sights and sounds of Colorado. Parts of another world taking their place in mine.

It has been a wonderful experience to join this bio-regional swap and make a new friend. Thank you Mary for inspiring us all!

  1. Yay!! And yes, I agree with you. So weird to see it all in another place.

I'm thrilled you're enjoying the music. Pure joy to know you've got it and it's safe. Love you.
