My parental leave is fast approaching and, because I have this crazy idea in my head that I might actually have a bit of spare time now and then, I am busily getting involved in new things to keep me on my manic toes. It's a bit mad really, I will probably have even less time to myself when I'm at home with the girls all day, but I can't seem to help myself. I love trying new things.
Amongst some other new things, which I will reveal soon, I have taken a first, wobbly step, in the direction of writing that (probably awful) novel. The one I feel guilty about not already having written during my lifetime of commuting.

I'll, nervously, share the first paragraph here:
She sat down abruptly in the long grass. For a while all she could hear was the thump of blood in her veins and the steady whisper of her slightly laboured breathing. The hike to the forest clearing had been steep and she wasn’t as fit as she had once been.
