Netflix Stream Team Update: Autumn 2016

It's been a while since I've done a Netflix update. Probably because I've been spending quite a lot of evenings watching Netflix and not writing about anything at all. But all the watching is essential, I guess, so that I can report back to you and let you know all about the strange things I've been enjoying.
Which leads me neatly on to telling you that my list obviously includes Stranger Things (did you like that segway?) which has become just about my favourite TV series ever. It's just been announced that there is a second season due next year so HOORAY for that! I mentioned it my last Netflix post so you can have a look there to find out more about it. Although, you must be living under a rock if you haven't heard of it by now!

I am also completely absorbed by Bloodline. Which for some reason I'd dismissed at first, but I'm really glad I gave a second look. It's set in Florida and focuses on a family, that outwardly seem really successful and happy. Then, a wayward brother returns home and everything unravels completely - yet not at all in the way you'd imagine. It's fascinating and dark and very entertaining. Plus, Sissy Spacek is in it - so I don't think I need say anymore than that to get you to watch it. I'm halfway through season two and I don't want it to end. Luckily, a third season is on the cards.

Other things on my 'recently watched' list include the series Flaked - which I actually watched all the way through twice. Once alone. Once with Devo. It stars Will Arnett as a recovering alcoholic do-gooder who seems like a nice (albeit, fairly selfish) guy who turns out to be telling all kinds of porkies. It's gotten some not-great reviews around the place but I really enjoyed it. Enough to watch it twice!

I also watched the movie Diary of a Teenage Girl which again is kind of dark and moody and features secrets and awkwardness (I told you I watched strange things...) BUT, it features some lovely animation sequences and Alexander Skarsgård in the nip. So that's nice.

I'm not the only person in the house to watch Netflix, however! Lile and Sábha have a great list of current favourites. First up: Masha and the Bear - which is a bizarre Russian cartoon about a naughty little girl who torments a lovable Bear (and every other animal in her vicinity). It is genuinely hilarious and quickly gaining in popularity over here. In fact we've even spotted some merchandise in a toy shop here which was immediately put on the wishlist for a certain time of year that I refuse to mention yet.

They are also completely loving Beat Bugs, the Beatles inspired cartoon featuring a host of musical talent including Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, Sia, P!NK, Rod Stewart and many, many more covering all your favourite Beatles hits.

Check out the short video below to see what the girls think of it and to find out what Sábha's favourite Beatles song is. She's very like her mother, so you might guess that it's not going to be the most cheerful song in the world!

Hope you enjoy!

Disclosure: As a member of the Netflix Stream Team I received a Netflix subscription and an Apple TV box in return for posting Netflix updates and reviews. All opinions are my own and I am not being paid to give them. I already had a personal subscription before joining the Stream Team.
