Where is the writing?

My goodness! It's been two weeks since I last posted here - how did that happen?!

It certainly wasn't intentional, but I suppose there have been a few things happening that have been stealing my blog writing time. The biggest time thief is the university course I'm doing. The first year is coming to an end and all of a sudden there are essays, quizzes and analysis tasks to complete and not very many weeks left to get it all done, so that has been distracting - to say the least.

I don't know if I've mentioned it here before actually, as it's something related to my day-job, but THIS is the course I'm doing (see if you can make head or tail of it, I dare you ;)). It's all Sociolinguistics, Language Planning and Cultural Identity, so not the most fun in the world, but pretty interesting. Sort of.

I've been writing for my Creative Writing course too, which I am LOVING, but all the thinking about little stories for that has obviously taken away from my thinking about blogposts time! I've been trying most of the weekly challenges and working hard to improve my writing and build my confidence and some fine day I might even share some of my efforts here. Maybe.

Also, my writing has been a teeny, tiny bit 'in demand' elsewhere! I had a guest post for Seachtain na Gaeilge over on Wholesome Ireland which got a lovely response, I'll have a piece over on eumom for Mother's Day and I'll also have another piece in the Bealtaine Edition of Brigid's Fire Magazine next month.

So I've been writing an awful lot, as it turns out - just not here!

There are lots of things I have plans to share here soon though. I have a cute little felt project I am dying to show you - as soon as I make sure the pattern actually works. The girls 4th birthday is coming up and I have a million plans to pull together and simplify - I also have to get the invites out which really should have been done by now.... The girls designed them and they are super-cute, if I say so myself. I have a few other posts planned and hopefully, sooner rather than later, I'll be able to actually write them!

In the meantime, there's a picture of my girls at the Patrick's Day funfair in our town. Enjoy!

  1. Wow you have been busy... all that and two little girls and a full time job. Hats off to you, don't know how you do it!

  2. Thanks Naomi! Sometimes I just feel like I'm chasing my tail, but I like to keep busy :)

  3. How come you seem to have several extra hours in every day?!

    1. I've often thought the same of you Emily! No extra hours unfortunately, I've just started utilising my commuting time better (and staying up far too late)

A penny for your thoughts?
